REPORT | Budrio WDSF International Open Championship

Italy | 12 of our KLDSA athletes took part in the 5th Star Cup Aurora-Budrio 2017. The athletes are (from left to right) Zara Eliza Binti Ghazie Yeoh, Benny Tan Yee Siang, Lim Dao Er, Lam Hong Woh, Evon Chong, Chua Zjen Fong, Che Xin Nee, Chua Zjen Thak, Kelly Tan Chee Min, Danny Tan Yee Chun, Emily Ng Li Shyuan and Justin Tan Jun Hao. This is the second competition the team participated in Europe. Prior to this competition, the team had training in Slovenia with world class athletes and teachers. 

 

Athletes Chua, Evon, Lam, Dao Er, Zjen Thak, Xin Nee, Kelly and Danny took part in the WDSF International Open Latin event. The event in total had 101 couples that participated. 

 

Lam and Dao Er were placed 55th in the event which means they competed until the second round. The same goes to Danny and Kelly who were placed 53rd in the event. Chua and Evon danced until the third round and were placed 25th out of the 101 couples in the event. 

They were only 1 mark and 1 placing away to qualify for the fourth round. It was indeed a very close call and tough competition by far.

 Zjen Thak and Xin Nee were placed 69th in the WDSF International Open Latin. The couple also took part in the WDSF International Open Standard event. There were 74 couples in total for the event. Zjen Thak and Xin Nee danced until the second round and were placed 44th in the event.

 Justin and Emily participated in the Junior Under 15 Latin event. There were 59 couples in total that took part in this event. The couple placed 16th in the event.

 Benny and Zara also took part in the Junior Under 15 Latin and qualified for the finals. The couple managed to get the 4th placing after dancing in the finals. This is a big accomplishment for the couple as this is their second competition in Europe.
