Dancing to Glory: KLDSA Athletes Shine in the Third Quarter of 2023
4 October 2023 (Kuala Lumpur) | The third quarter of 2023 brought a whirlwind of achievements and accolades for the talented athletes of the Kuala Lumpur DanceSport Association (KLDSA). From exhilarating competitions to outstanding performances, our dancers continued to make us proud on the international DanceSport stage.
Competition 1: Asian DanceSport Festival 2023 (Wuxi, China, 21-23 July 2023)
KLDSA athletes showcased their skills at the Asian DanceSport Festival 2023 in Wuxi, China. Despite fierce competition, they left their mark with remarkable results:
Tan Yee Siang & Bernice Iu Weng Tong: Participating in the WDSF GrandSlam Latin, they secured the 81st rank.
Ooi Ken Vin & Zoe Tan Zi Wei: Impressive performances in both the WDSF GrandSlam Latin (98th rank) and WDSF GrandSlam Standard (113th rank).
Anson Phang Jun Keat & Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei: Achieved the 111th rank in the WDSF GrandSlam Latin event.
Competition 2: The 12th "King's Cup" Thailand Open 2023 (Bangkok, Thailand, 9-10th September 2023)
KLDSA athletes continued to dazzle at The 12th "King's Cup" Thailand Open 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. Their incredible performances included:
Tan Yee Siang & Bernice Iu Weng Tong: Achieved the 37th place in the WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin and the 32nd place in Adult Closed Asia Latin.
Ooi Say Keat & Che Xin Nee: Impressive results in WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin (46th place) and Adult Closed Asia Latin (29th place).
Anson Phang Jun Keat & Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei: Demonstrated their talent with rankings of 51st in WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin, 20th in WDSF Youth Open Latin, and 37th in Adult Closed Asia Latin.
Yap Chin Kuan & Yang ChuNing: Achieved the 63rd place in WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin and the 51st place in Adult Closed Asia Latin.
Competition 3: The 11th World DanceSport Festival (Chengdu, China, 16-17th September 2023)
The KLDSA team ventured to Chengdu, China, for The 11th World DanceSport Festival, achieving notable rankings:
Ooi Say Keat & Che Xin Nee: Distinguished themselves with a 15th place in the DSA Latin Championship and a 36th place in the WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin.
Ooi Ken Vin & Zoe Tan Zi Wei: Achieved the 38th place in the WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin.
Anson Phang Jun Keat and Cherry Yeo Xiao Wei: Impressive results of 20th in DSA Latin Championship and 51st in WDSF World Open (New Series) Latin.
Competition 4: WDSF Cebu Open 2023 (Cebu, Philippines, 30th September 2023)
The quarter culminated in the thrilling WDSF Cebu Open 2023 in the Philippines, where KLDSA athletes demonstrated their excellence:
Tan Yee Siang & Bernice Iu Weng Tong: Achieved the title of Rising Stars Latin Champions and secured the 7th place in WDSF Open Latin.
Ooi Say Keat & Che Xin Nee: Impressive performance with a 2nd Runner-Up position in the Rising Star Open and the 11th place in WDSF Open Latin.
Ng Hou Ren & Ng Jia Yi: Earned the title of Rising Stars Latin Finalists, securing the 6th place, and achieved the 18th place in WDSF Open Latin.
Loh Wei Yi & Jarellyn Cheong Sze Xin: Crowned U21 Standard Champions and achieved the 9th place in WDSF Open Standard.
Max XiaoJiaYue: A rising star, clinched the title of Junior C Beginner Latin Champion and Junior Solo Single Dance (C,R,J) Champion.
The third quarter of 2023 has been a remarkable period for the talented athletes of the Kuala Lumpur DanceSport Association (KLDSA).
