KLDSA Team Shines with 3 Gold Medals at Hong Kong Open 2025

5-9 November 2025 – The Kuala Lumpur Dancesport Association (KLDSA) team delivered an exceptional performance at the Hong Kong Open 2025, held at the Queen's Elizabeth Stadium, securing multiple medals and impressive placements against tough international competition. Led by Team Leader Evon Chong, the delegation of three solo athletes and five couples proudly represented Malaysia on the international stage.
Key Couple and Solo Achievements
The KLDSA team secured six medals in total, including three Gold, two Silver, and one Bronze.
Podium Successes:
Bernice Iu Weng Tong (Solo Female): Won three Champion titles in the DSA Asian Championship Solo Adult Female Single Dance Samba & Paso Doble and also the WDSF Open Adult Solo Female Latin, triumphing over 57 other competitors.
Hazel Tan Kah Yen & Lee Chen Sheng (Couple): Secured 1st Runner Up (Silver) in the DSA Asian Championship Youth - Jive (Out of 10).
Ng Hou Ren (Solo Male): Achieved 1st Runner Up (Silver) in the DSA Asian Championship Solo Adult Male Single Dance Rumba (Out of 3) and 2nd Runner Up (Bronze) in the Cha Cha event (Out of 4).
Additional Achievements:
Ooi Ken Vin and Zoe Tan Zi Wei delivered a notable performance in the main couple events, reaching the Semi Final (11th place out of 51 couples) in the WDSF Open Adult Latin. They also reached the Quarter Final (18th out of 34) in the WDSF Open Adult Standard.
Lee Chong Sheng and Bernice Iu Weng Tong also achieved 6th Place in the DSA Asian Championship Adult - Paso Doble.
Hazel Tan Kah Yen & Lee Chen Sheng (Couple): Reached a commendable 4th Place in the DSA Asian Championship Youth - Cha Cha (Out of 14).
Tan Li Xuan (Solo Female): Demonstrated world-class skill by reaching the Semi Final (8th place) in the WDSF Open Adult Solo Female Latin.
Yap Chin Kuan & Tan Li Xuan also gained crucial international exposure by advancing to the 2nd Round in the WDSF Open Adult Latin, competing against a strong field of 51 couples.
