Kuala Lumpur Athletes Takes Center Stage at the Borneo Open International Dancesport Championship and Convention 2024

Kuching, Sarawak – The 2nd Borneo Open International DanceSport Championship & Convention (BOIDC) 2024, held from November 1st to 3rd, 2024, at the RAIA Hotel Kuching, witnessed a remarkable performance from athletes representing Kuala Lumpur. This time we have a total of 10 couples and 31 solo athletes representing the Kuala Lumpur state which they have showcased exceptional talent and dedication, securing numerous top positions across various events.
The team from Kuala Lumpur comprised both couples and solo athletes, demonstrating their prowess in Latin and Standard dance categories. Their achievements highlight the strength and depth of Dancesport talent within the region.
Couple Achievements:
Tan Yee Siang and Bernice Lu Weng Tong also made a significant impact, securing the Champion title in the MYDF Grade A Closed Latin event and achieving 6th Place in the WDSF Open Latin. They also reached the Semi-Finals in the WDSF Rising Star Latin event.
Prize Presentation of MYDF Grade A Closed Standard Ooi Ken Vin and Zoe Tan Zi Wei demonstrated outstanding skill, achieving the Champion title in the MYDF Grade A Closed Standard event and the 1st Runner Up position in the MYDF Grade A Closed Latin and WDSF Open Latin Youth events. They also reached the Semi-Finals in the WDSF Open Latin, WDSF Open Standard, and WDSF Rising Star Latin and Standard events, consistently placing among the top competitors.
Prize Presentation of WDSF Open Youth Latin Vincent Lee Chen Sheng and Hazel Tan Kah Yen displayed their talent by achieving 6th Place in the WDSF Open Latin Youth event and securing the 1st Runner Up position in the Youth Open Samba.
Solo Dancer Achievements:
Kuala Lumpur's solo athletes also shone brightly, achieving remarkable results in various age categories and dance styles. Some of the notable achievements include:
Madeleine Lau Yu Xuan showcased her versatility by taking home the Champion titles in MYDF Closed Youth Female Solo Latin and MYDF Closed Adult Female Solo Latin. This is a testament to her skill across different age divisions.
Prize Presentation of MYDF Closed Junior II Female Solo Latin Chew Yun Han was Champion in the MYDF Closed Junior II Female Solo Latin event, highlighting her talent in the junior category.
These dancers' achievements at the 2nd BOIDC 2024 underscore the depth of solo dance talent in Kuala Lumpur and their dedication to the sport.
These are just some of the highlights from the Kuala Lumpur DanceSport Association (KLDSA) athletes' participation in the 2nd BOIDC 2024. Their overall performance reflects their hard work, dedication, and the high level of coaching within the Kuala Lumpur Dancesport community. Their achievements contribute significantly to the growing prominence of Dancesport in Malaysia on the international stage.
The 2nd BOIDC 2024 trip was also lead by the President of KLDSA, Mr Chua Zjen Fong & Treasurer of KLDSA Ms Evon Chong to keep the team morale high in the 3 day event at the RAIA Hotel Kuching, Sarawak. The success of the KLDSA athletes is a testament to their commitment and the strength of Dancesport in Kuala Lumpur. #kldsa
